Kirby (Waterbury)
Meet KIRBY, a sweet, soulful boy who will be turning 2 years old on March 15, 2026. Through no fault of his own, KIRBY is looking for a new forever home after his family’s upcoming move makes it impossible for them to take him along.
KIRBY is sensitive, gentle, and a little shy at first. He has impeccable manners — no scratching, no biting — and when he feels overwhelmed, he chooses flight over fight, retreating to a safe hiding spot until he feels secure again. But once KIRBY knows you and trusts you, his true personality shines. He becomes incredibly affectionate, chatty, and devoted. When you come home, expect a full-body celebration: KIRBY will flop, roll, and wiggle on the floor like a happy “twisty noodle,” thrilled that his favorite human has returned.
This thoughtful boy knows exactly what he’s looking for in life — a patient, tidy human who understands that good things are worth waiting for. In return, KIRBY offers unwavering loyalty, companionship, and lots of quiet conversation. He loves bird-watching from the window, hanging out with his person, chatting about his day, or curling up nearby while you watch TV. He’ll also make sure you never forget when the food or water bowls need a refill.
KIRBY is shy around children but has been good with them, making a calm home with older, cat-savvy kids the best fit for him.
He previously shared a deep bond with a special-needs sister he adored, and her passing was a significant loss for him. There is also an older cat in the home who does not get along with other cats, so they are kept separated. Aside from those relationships, KIRBY has limited experience with other animals. He would thrive as the only pet in a quiet home, but with the right introduction, he may do well with a very docile, friendly cat.
KIRBY is FIV/FeLV negative, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and will be neutered on 2/12/2026. He will be ready for adoption shortly after that.
If you’re looking for a gentle soul who just wants to love and be loved, KIRBY might be your perfect match.
