Passion 4 Paws, Inc. differs from many shelters in that we are a true sanctuary for animals that are considered “unadoptable.” Animals that would otherwise be euthanized in shelters or refused by other rescues are taken in by P4P. This includes those which have behavioral issues, extreme medical needs or may simply be considered “too old” to be adopted. P4P does not discriminate and realizes that these gentle, loving animals need their forever home as well.

P4P primarily operates using its own personal financial contribution and is need of additional support to care for these and all animals within the sanctuary. We currently house over 65 animals. As one can imagine, the cost to care for each animal is insurmountable. Veterinary bills and medical care alone account for approximately two-thirds(2/3) of the total expenses.

One way to help these animals and P4P is through our “Sponsor A Pet” program. For as little as $12 a month you can help us provide kitty litter to one cat, or $20 would help pay for a cat’s thyroid pills, or go towards the cost of an animal’s veterinary bill.

If you would like to sponsor a special needs animal with a monthly or quarterly donation, please mail a completed sponsorship form (click here) along with your donation to Passion 4 Paws, Inc., P.O. Box 791, Dayville, CT 06241, indicating your sponsorship on the check; or go to our website passion4paws.org, under ‘Ways To Donate’ and click on the link for Petfinder.com: Simply select an animal that touches your heart and click on the “Sponsor Me” link. There you’ll be able to complete a sponsorship form and begin your help for the animal you’ve selected.

When you sponsor an animal we will send you a photo and description of your "pet" along with semi-annual updates. All donations are tax-deductible.

Hanna, a domestic long hair, is 6yrs. and came to us from another no-kill shelter. She lived primarily in a cage for 2 years until she came to P4P. Shortly after arriving to the sanctuary, Hanna developed liver problems. She underwent extensive medical treatment and has since recovered. Hanna has adapted extremely well to her new environment. She now enjoys her cage-free life at the sanctuary and especially loves hanging around the sink to play with water.

Fluffy, a Maine Coon, is 12 yrs. and came to us in March, cold and scared. He was taken by a social worker from a home to be foreclosed. Unfortunately, he escaped, only to be living alone through the rough & frigid winter conditions. We were finally able to trap him. When he arrived at P4P, his teeth were in very bad shape and had to have many removed. He is now feeling much better; enjoying the warmth of the sanctuary, the attention of volunteers and especially the food. He is a gentle giant and loves to eat!

Daisy is a 4 yr. Pitbull Terrior mix. She was found this past winter tethered outside to equipment laying on top of ice. Her owner, a homeless gentleman, occasionally came by to feed her. Her ribs and backbone were protruding from her small frame. She had been hit by a car and now walks on 3 legs. P4P took in this emotionally and physically scarred animal. Her emotional baggage made it difficult to trust any human. Daisy has been working extensively with a wonderful and patient dog trainer. Now, several months later, Daisy is more confident, loving and trusting. Although she continues to receive weekly training, she enjoys the love and kindness she receives from people she has now begun to trust.
