Bella
UPDATE 5/22/2013: Bella spent not one, but two weeks working with trainer Tom Sears at John Gagnon's Pet Resort and GUESS WHAT? She LIKES other dogs! She just didn't know how to act around them. Bella made immense strides during her two weeks at camp and surpassed our expectations. She not only became tolerant of other dogs, she made several doggie friends! We have all the action packed adventure on video, so stay tuned. We are updating Bella's video now. The bottom line is that Bella's dog aggression was/is fear-based. This doesn't mean she'll get along with every dog she meets, but she's no longer reacting negatively the way she used to.
UPDATE: Bella will be going to John Gagnon's Pet Resort the week of May 6th for pack training with Tom Sears to evaluate her reactivity to dogs. Stay tuned for updates! She has a reprieve until then.
Bella is URGENT! There is no room in our shelter for Bella so she is still living in her home, but her time there is limited. Bella is a loving dog. She is great with kids! Currently she lives with a 2 year old girl and they are the best of pals. All Bella wants is to love and be loved. Bella was rescued from the Waterbury Pound becasue her owner didn't want to see her die. Unfortunately she didn't realize how much effort it is to take care of a dog and she isn't able to give Bella the attention she deserves. Bella loves to go for walks so she needs someone who will walk her daily and give her plenty of exercise. She is also crate trained.
According to the vet Bella is between 1-2 years old and she has already had a least two litters of puppies. Bella may once have been used for breeding, but now she's a family dog! She is also now spayed and vaccinated!
When Bella was first adopted she attended training classes at Petco. Her trainer said Bella is a very smart dog! She is treat motivated so she makes an ideal student! One day after class Bella got into a scuffle in the parking lot with another dog. The incident was most likely motivated by the fact that both dogs were on their leashes and the introduction was not properly managed, but sincce that is the only dog interaction Bella has had we do not recommend that Bella be adopted into a home with other dogs.
Bella weighs 65 lbs.
